ABWA Spring Conferences

Each year ABWA presents two types of nationally sponsored meetings. Each spring, regional conferences are held at various sites throughout the country, and each fall, ABWA holds its annual national conference. The conferences include a collage of activities - but they are very different in purpose and design.

The principle purpose of the spring conferences is to bring concentrated professional development opportunities and educational programs to members. Professional development programs target the members' personal and professional growth. All business skills seminars qualify for professional development contact hours, which are units of measurement signifying 60 minutes of participation in continuing education. Some business skills seminars qualify for Continuing Education Units, or CEUs. This non-degree credit is granted to programs that meet the standards of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours.

Spring conferences are also an important means of recognizing individual and group achievements. 

Outstanding networking opportunities are built into spring conferences. This allows members a unique opportunity to meet other similarly minded businesswomen, many of whom are from the surrounding geographical area.

Spring conferences also provide an excellent opportunity for members to become familiar with the district's candidates for the office of district vice president (DVP) prior to the election at the national convention. DVP candidates are introduced to the membership spring conferences, and while they do not formally campaign aside from giving their campaign speech, they are available to talk with members in a more personal setting.
